A Crazy Busy Summer of Not Much

It's funny how much time one can spend doing things of very little consequence. Considering I don't have a job (still) and I spend most of my day alone in my apartment, sometimes I feel like I accomplish very little. That being said, here's what I have been doing for the last couple of weeks.
Basically I've been studying for the GRE. I wake up and I review vocabulary flash cards, I eat lunch while working on memorizing geometric equations and I go to bed each night after working on a few practice sentence completions. I took a practice test today and scored likely above 700 in Verbal and roughly (maybe hopefully) above 500 in Math. We'll see. I'm real bad at Math.

In my spare time, I watched the entirety of Dirty Sexy Money on Netflix (which totally ruled). Watching it made me remember how sad I am that the Writers Strike happened, because it led to the cancellation of such fabulous shows as this one, where the wealthiest and most elitist family of New York City does basically everything we expect the rich to do in really fancy clothes. All twenty three episodes were an absolute delight. And Alex and I are watching Flight of the Conchords on DVD, because I've decided it is the summer of "television cancelled too early."

I spend a lot of time making myself fru-fru sandwiches out of the not so special ingredients that I have in my collegiate refrigerator in my apartment behind Wendy's. BONUS TIP-Any sammich becomes instantly better if you add horseradish as a condiment.

And basically other than that I've been watching movies and reading books. I read (and LOVED) Bridget Jones' Diary, and am now working my way through Tina Fey's new book Bossypants. There is really no other way to describe it than just so freaking good. Also, shameless plug for my mother, who has been prompting me to watch Inside Job for about 25 years now, despite the fact I've only been alive for 20 and a half-ish and the movie came out this past year. But whatever way it happened, it is a really interesting look at the financial crisis and it is definitely worth a good viewing. Chock full of fiber and protein for the mind while still being entertaining enough to taste like chocolate.

Other than that, I've been keeping up writing articles for theblacksheeponline.com and I've got two new ones out for July. Linked for you below.

Basically now I'm biding my time until
1. I get a job
2. I die from boredom
3. I run out of movies to watch
4. School starts
5. I run out of money to make cupcakes frequently

I will take all suggestions in comments and via email on how to prevent any of the above five from happening very VERY seriously.

Oh Yea, and also, my good friend Elle is actually having an amazing summer in Israel, so be sure and check out her blog http://elleinisrael.blogspot.com/

The Summer of Unemployment

For those of you who don't know, I'm currently unemployed. So I basically spend my days doing very little. My current day involves waking up, eating breakfast, spending an hour or so jonesing craigslist and Futurelink for jobs, sending out resumes, eating lunch, laying by the pool, taking a nap, eating dinner, watching TV and going to bed. So for the love of God, if anyone has a job opening, PLEASE HIRE ME.

It's been a wonderful summer thus far, I'm just kinda bored. On the bright side, I've been doing a lot of cooking, because well, what else am I supposed to do? The other day I made french toast which were delicious, and tonight I made chicken piccata for dinner, and I'm considering doing a weekly sammich update.

Also, I'm officially convinced that the institution of television is secretly in favor of promoting stay at home motherhood for all women because the only good TV programming in the middle of the day is on Foodnetwork, Bravo and We TV.

That being said, yesterday, I watched Bridezillas for 3 hours, while simultaneously browsing bridal gowns on Kleinfelds. And then I watched You Again. It's cool, I don't have wedding fever.
And now I'm watching the Real Housewives of Orange County reunion special, and it is CRAAAAAAAAAZZY. Hot Mess. Love It.

I'm gonna go make myself a martini and take a bath. Someone PLEASE find me a job.

Alexa's Graduation

That's right folks, contrary to all popular beliefs, Alexa actually managed to graduate from high school. And believe me, we were all as shocked as you are.

It's not very good blogging, but I really can't help myself from kvelling a little bit about my adorable sister. She was absolutely the best looking graduate up there (good genes) and she had the best walk. And she got a hug from the former principal because she is his favorite. Because she is everyone's favorite. Take that losers!

But seriously, super Congrats to the Ohio State Buckeye Bound 2011 Graduate! The whole family is super super proud of you!

Pretty much the best looking sisters ever. JAM.

National Honors Society and Cum Laude Graduate. Beauty and Brains? Only in Alexa.

Grad Party Pics! The whole gang is back together. Plus Monica.

Not exactly Charm City, but still pretty damn delish.

Oh hey leftover Mexican food for three weeks. What's cooking?

The End of Junior Year

Well due to some sort of miracle I actually finished my finals, and I'm literally in the process of checking out the last of my residents from the dorm. Goodbye dorm, Goodbye residents, Goodbye Junior year of Undergrad.

I've yet to start packing up my room, because it is honestly a piece of wall art. And I just can't bring myself to do it. Also, I'm pretty lazy, so that doesn't help either. But before I start dismantling, I want the world to see the finished product.

Do I have enough stuff on the walls yet?

Art Wall :D
What am I gonna do with all of these posters?

At least there's a Millionaire Matchmaker Marathon on Bravo so I have entertainment while I clean. Because Patti Stanger completes me. She makes me so glad that I already have the best boyfriend in the world :)

Speaking of, my University Housing Contract expires on Sunday, and after that I will be officially blogging about the adventures of Jaclyn and her boyfriend who she can't talk about for two more days for legal purposes :) Cliffhanger!

Anyway, get ready for a summer of blog posts about food, fun, and being currently unemployed.
